To all of those that loved and knew Rande,

Rande lost her battle with a terrible disease but she was full of hope and courage throughout her battle. She never gave up and one source of her encouragement was the people at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center that agreed to meet with Rande and give us a chance to win our fight.

As we prepared for our appointment at Johns Hopkins we were treated with respect whenever we called to talk with anyone at the Center. They made our planned trip seem less stressful through their excellent communications and recommendations as to what we needed to do to prepare.

Rande was very impressed with them and also excited to have the opportunity to be treated at Johns Hopkins. I am sure if you talked with her in the last few weeks she would have told you all about her excitement and trip.

I know Rande would like to help the people at Johns Hopkins Research in return for their kindness and at the same time help anyone in the future to possibly survive what she had to endure. For this reason I would like to ask that anything that you wished to donate in her name or in lieu of flowers that you send your donations to The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.

To make a donation you can visit the website https://jhweb.dev.jhu.edu/eforms/form.do?formId=10865 and specify pancreatic cancer in the requested area of cancer research. In the section for Honoree please fill in:

Dear Dickerson Pediatrics Families and Friends,

We are sorry to inform you that Nurse Rande (Rande Kunicki), our nurse for the past 11 years, passed away today (4/29/2010) from pancreatic cancer. We loved her and will miss her. She had an amazing way with the children and knew how to make them smile even after they received their shots. She was like a mother to us, a friend, an amazing person...

Thanks to every one for their prayers and support. Please continue to keep Rande's family in your prayers- her husband Robert, her sons Travis and Taylor, and her mother Jodie.

The family is planning a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 15th. We will update our site regarding arrangements as they are available.
Love,
Dr. D and Staff
(Harry, Kristi, Jada and Karen)
